Estaré poniendo discos con Nano como "Los Pinches Montañeros" en la próxima ceremonia ritual festiva, "Háztelo Tu Mismo", organizada por unos fantásticos amigos. Habrá dos alucinógenos conciertos de Ray Rumours y Trash Kit, encima "Tumismo" también estará pinchando.
Pues eso, que Madrid por fin va cogiendo buen color...

I'll be playing records with Nano as "Los Pinches Montañeros" on our fantastic friends ritual ceremonial party "Háztelo Tu Mismo". There will be two hallucinogenic concerts by Ray Rumours and Trash Kit, on top of that "Tumismo" will be dj'ing as well.
Seems like Madrid is getting a nice color at last...

Que vienen Los Pinches Montañeros!. Será mañana, día 10, en Campamento Dorado, después de reir, bailar y trotar con Desire y Glass Candy, presentados por Zombie Club y Montaña Sagrada. Arriba pinchan Zombie Kids y Mike Simonetti. En Charada a partir de las 21:30.

Los Pinches Montañeros are coming!. It will be tomorrow the 10th at Campamento Dorado (Golden Camp), after dancing, smiling and trotting with Desire and Glass Candy, who are playing presented by Zombie Club and Montaña Sagrada (Holy Mountain). Upstairs Zombie Kids and the Mike Simonetti dj'ing. Charada Club from 21:30.

Stephen Shore habla de no hacer dos veces la misma foto. Lo del tío, al menos durante un tiempo, fue más obsesivo. Aquí dos imágenes del mismo lugar. La primera del 73, la segunda del 74. La segunda, en mi opinión resuelve los problemas de la primera, encuadre, composición, luz y detalles.

Tengamos en cuenta, que puede ser que la segunda fuese escogida de entre otras varias con coches de distintos colores, tal y como Shore ha reconocido que hacía en ocasiones. No es la misma desde diferentes encuadres. Pero es el mismo encuadre con distintos matices hasta obtener el resultado que más se acerca a lo que él esperaba obtener. Eso es paciencia, retomar esa calle, esa foto, un año después. Sin prisa por conformar el proyecto final, sino por solucionar las cuestiones que la primera imagen dejaba sin resolver. Y ganar.

Stephen Shore talks about not taking two pictures of the same thing. Well, at least for sometime, he was more obsessive than that. Here, two images of the same place. One taken in 1973, the other one in 1974. In my opinion the second one resolves first one's problems, frame, composition, light and detail.

Let's have in mind that the second one may have been chosen between some other pictures with different cars with different colors, as Shore has recognized he sometimes did.
Ok, it's not the same picture taken twice, or from different angles. But it's the same frame with different nuances until he gets as close as he can to what he was hoping for. That's patience, to take that street again, that picture, a year later. With no hurries on finishing a final project, but to solve the questions that the first image left unsolved. And win.

Pilla este libro.

Móstoles. Lee Ranaldo con Steve Shelley y una guitarra colgando del techo. A su vera, el Morente y su familia, con una pinta fantástica. La perfo: distorsión, la guitarra volando y palmas y cante. Y muchas "señoras de Móstoles fans de Sonic Youth y los cubatas".
La expo la veo el Viernes. Es que había Tanqueray gratis.

Móstoles. Lee Ranaldo, Steve Shelley and a guitar hanging from the ceiling. At one side Enrique Morente and family. The performance: spanish "cante" and a guitar swinging side to side firing up distortion. And a fantastic lot of "old ladies from Móstoles fans of free drinks and Sonic Youth".
I'll check out the exhibition this Friday. Thing is.. there was free Tanqueray.

Qué gusto mirar nuevos contactos. Llevo mucho tiempo esperando esto.

Fui hace mucho a su expo en La Fábrica y la verdad es que me gustó. Sobre todo las fotos del primer piso. Parecían pequeños instantes capturados alrededor de las grandes imágenes, más pretenciosas, que flanqueaban la sala de abajo. La calidad de las copias de arriba no era muy impresionante, cosa rara.
Sigo pensando que Crewdson es un fotógrafo más que necesario. No esencial y un flipado en su manera de trabajar. Pero necesario.

I went to his show at La Fábrica and did in fact like it. Best part where his pictures on the ground floor. Smaller and less pretentious. They seemed like nice bits of instants around the bigger picture he was working on. Also I did love the size of those prints. Although, strangely, the quality of the print didn't seem super extra good. The ones downstairs where bigger and more what you would expect from a Crewdson exhibition.
I still think that Crewdson is a more than necessary photographer. Not essential and a bit "too much" about the way he works. But necessary.

Just this morning I was checking out Paris Review and Larry Sultan's Homeland 2007-2009 pictures.
Then I found out he passed over three days ago.
It was a weird way to start a day, so cloudy and cold in Madrid.
There's a very good bit of Sultan in the superb doc "The Genius of Photography"

Justo esta mañana andaba mirando el número de Paris Review con las fotos de Larry Sultan del 2007 al 2009, Homeland. Poco después me entero de que murió hace tres días.
Ha sido una manera rara de empezar un día, nublado y frío como el de hoy en Madrid.
Hay un trozo muy guay sobre Sultan en el mítico "The Genius of Photography".
